Time and time again, one may hear complaints such as “the egg basket of the world has no worthwhile egg restaurants.” However, one can fin many options for a cozy meal of eggs, or any other breakfast food in the many restaurants of downtown Petaluma. The following restaurants are the top 5 best-loved breakfast spots for Petalumans.

  1. Marvin’s: This 30 year old restaurant has been serving meals for generations. Located on Petaluma Blvd., it specializes in all-day breakfast as well as lunch. There, one can choose between a myriad of options ranging from chili omelets to classic pancakes, fruit-topped waffles to waffle sandwiches, and eggs benedict to cinnamon French toast. Its quirky menu choices go well with the cute and local country atmosphere of Marvin’s.
  2. The Tea Room: The Tea Room’s lack of seating at almost any time of the day attest to its worth and extreme popularity among Petalumans. Offering café classics like hot drinks and pastries, the Tea Room grants diners a casual yet still classy breakfast option.
  3. Halle’s Diner: This restaurant, as well, always boasts a long waiting list any given morning. Hearkening to an old-time diner, the small and comfortingly local restaurant features only the basic breakfast picks. However, its popularity stems from the quality of these favorite foods, the quaintness of the location next to Petaluma Market, and the friendliness of the wait-staff.
  4. Aram’s Café- Although less popular as a breakfast stop, this café on Kentucky Street specializes in healthy American and Armenian foods. For instance, one can order a steamed egg scramble with vegetables rather than a fried-in-oil egg from other locations. The cafés, versatility and shifting breakfast menu also add to the appeal as a perfect spot for the health and taste conscious.
  5. Applebox- This café, located on Waterstreet directly next beside the river, already had the location for a cozy morning hang-out spot as well as the uniqueness of a eclectic yet still orderly café. Recently, it introduced a breakfast menu along with its previously offered assortment of smoothies, bagels, coffees, teas, and pastries. Although Applebox’s menu is less inclusive than the aforementioned restaurants, its limited choices still appeal to breakfast go-ers across the board.
